About

Geeks have special needs when it comes to parties.

There’s about a 50% chance that you found geekyholidays.com by searching for a “list of geeky holidays” or “geek holidays” or something of the sort. And I agree; there should be an easy to find and easy to navigate web site dedicated to celebrating our raison d’être.

Geeky Holidays is an effort to compile a great number of geek-worthy holidays so that geeks everywhere have a reason to celebrate and/or learn something interesting on every day of the year. The goal is to eventually turn these blog data into an interactive calendar full of fun information and party ideas. By the end of 2010, there will be 365 posts — one published each day but likely edited throughout the year as I collect and refine the data. Right now, there are some holes in February and March.

Much of the information comes directly from Wikipedia. Unlike Wikipedia, however, this site is edited to exclude the mainstream “on this date” noise that run the gamut from wars and political feats to sports and Hollywood celebrity birthdays. There’s a specifically geeky reason for every item included. If you feel that something is missing, please comment on a specific post!

Thanks so much for your interest in my weird pursuits.
